Simon is an international award winning Architect & Associate at Arup. Leading multi-disciplinary teams, he is known for working collaboratively towards design solutions that merge strategic vision with detail. He believes that societal shifts in the way we work and live provide an opportunity for designers to be an agent of change in future urban lifestyles.
His work includes the award winning Philips Zero Carbon Emissions Building HQ, Shanghai, China – winner of the international ‘2011 MIPIM/AR Futures Award’ & Shortlisted for the ‘2011 World Architecture Unbuilt Awards’. He also led the team designing the innovative £500M Jaguar Land Rover Engine Manufacturing Centre, winner of the RICS National Regeneration Project of the Year. The concept and strategic design of a low carbon ‘designed for manufacture’ construction system and housing range, developing an innovative offsite ‘future of retail’ concept and providing strategic thinking for the City of London’s ‘Cultural Quarter’.
He has collaborated with clients including Jaguar Land Rover, British Land, Land Securities, Philips, European Investment Bank, Barbican Arts Centre, GSK, ICBC China, Huawei, Saudi Aramco and Laing O’Rourke.
Simons’ projects have been published in Architect’s Journal, Architectural Review, AD UK, DETAIL Germany & A+U Japan. He has studied at the Architectural Association (AA), London and tutored at the UCL Bartlett, London & Deakin University, Australia.
He is currently leading a multidisciplinary team in the £90M redevelopment of the Grade II listed 1 Finsbury Avenue with British Land.
